Greetings from Team Synergy!
Well, lemme get to the point. As you guys know by now, the 2008 FRC has started and I will be working on the robot and at various competitions. I will list on this board what dates I'll be gone and stuff when I get them. I will also post pictures of the robot, team, and competitions when possible. Also, some members are gonna try to put videos on Youtube, so look there. Some are already up! Please, do not post on this board. Any questions, mail me.
Aside from me, I'm also doing this to get you guys interested in getting a robotics team started at your school (All grades, even colleges, around the world!) if you don't already have one, or getting into it if you do. It's much more then a club, it's a family. In a FIRST robotics team, you learn teamwork and other useful skills aside from learning to build and handle a robot, program it, and other stuff.
While building robots is a part of the teams, the competitions are where it all comes down. You want to win, but you don't cheat. If another team has a broken part, help fix it. If a robot is stuck, get it unstuck. Don't laugh at another team if they loose, cheer them on. Winning a competition has nothing if you don't use the one major thing; Gracious Professionalism.
Not only do we do the competitions, but the teams also do have fun. In the middle of the field we will do the Cha-Cha Slide. We'll have BBQs and parties. It's, in a sense, a non-stop party during both the on and off seasons. I mean, would you rather sit at home all summer or go around to cookouts with your team and other teams and the robots?
Yes, we do build robots from the ground up, basically. The FRC has the big robots, but there are two other ones to get in. One has the Vexx robots. We control the robots with joysticks (Or Gamecube controllers if we want) or they run on their own. Wanna learn how to make a robot bring you a drink? We can do it.
If you are interested in having a robotics team in your school or area, go to the FIRST web page ( www.usfirst.org/ ) and learn some more. Ask your teachers or peers to get a team up and running and get registered! Also, don't forget to tell them that team 2140, Team Synergy, got you interested. You'll be our little rookie team for 2009!
About the doodle at top; I did something like that before the kickoff, but I never scanned it. Oddly enough, the shirts have a symbol on them the same colors as Espi so.... Yeah. Perfect sense. I redid it, scanned it, and colored it (yes, the other computer is working) to the perfect mood. The symbol on Espi's cape is the Synergy symbol that is on the 2007 shirts. There is a new one, but no one can agree on how it looks. I know a fancy picture gets you guys paying attention! And I think it worked! Besides, Robo-Kit Espi needs a colored picture.
The following posts will be dates and pictures and stuff. Hope to see you out on the field!
