In the basement, Amongst the pipes, Resides my cat, His name is Stripes.
We play games, He's great at Hide and Seek, I will never cheat though, He says he knows if I peek.
I want to tell my friends about Stripes, "I don't want them to know" He purrs in my ear, "If you do I'll have to go."
One day I brought home a kitten, I thought Stripes was lonely when I was away, I don't know why but it got scared, It hasn't been seen since that day.
I love Stripes so much, His smooth silky fur as black as night, With no lights in the house, He moves but is never within sight.
When it's dark and I'm ready to sleep, He travels from downstairs to under my bed, With eyes glowing yellow he whispers, "I'll keep watch for you, don't worry your little head."
Call to him and he will sound, With a smile of sharp white teeth, Scratching sounds and creaks, From the stairs it sounds beneath.
Stripes gets very hungry at night, I feed him sandwiches with luncheon meats, I don't stay in the room with him, The noises he makes scare me when he eats.
I went to camp for summer, I swam a lot and all sorts of fun, But because I did not stay to be with Stripes, I had discovered that in my absence a nightmare had begun.
That night Stripes was no where to be found, I bet he was bad because he had not been fed, Giving up my mom told me it was time to sleep, I woke in the night to see Stripes standing at the foot of my bed.
"You forgot me didn't you?" he whispered and hissed. "Don't be sad, don't worry." "You soon won't be missed."
I have a cat named Stripes, His horns the glistened in the night, His claws shone with metallic sheen, Tonight within darkness he ended my life.
